Rockin news Rachel. Glad to hear it. Sounds like something you might actually be pretty interested in too, assuming you are as big a fan of fashion as most people I know.

Congratulations. I followed your link from Diane Hessan's tweet. What an interesting journey you have had. My husband and I run a branding/marketing firm in Needham. I know of STA well. Please ping me if you ever have need for some positioning help, consumer research, or online production assistance. And best of luck with the new gig!

Two items 1) congratulations, you work hard and are creative so there, 2) while the job was from old fashion networking let's not dismiss the social connections just yet. Your participation in communities help with the credibility you needed for the position.

I know how easy it is for status quo thinking to want to draw straight lines from one action to the next, to show cause and effect. The last century and 5 generations of industrialization and scientific methodology has ingrained in our culture the desire to show a pattern that will predict the future. If social media has thought me anything it is this, life has many random opportunities , enjoy them as the present themselves, create them by giving of yourself without expecting anything in return.

I don't me to write this as some Maruggi maxim, just an observation that appeals to me which may resonate with others.

Wonderful exciting news, and it seems like a company that has both business and social goodness.

    All the best,

Rachel, what wonderful news! I'm so excited for you. Sounds like a great opportunity.
And I don't doubt for a second that your time on Twitter has served you well.
The time, the energy, the community, the learning... and the giving go into an invisible account that will pay in dividends. True for everyone!

Congrats! Enjoy the month of "vaca."

Rachel - while we did network the old fashion way -- meeting for coffee, I did initially run across you on Twitter. Then followed links to check out your blog and other media, before actually emailing you. So, I can vouch that Twitter did in fact play a role in you discovering and landing this opportunity. I'm thrilled you've made this connection and wish you the best in your new role. You're sort of an in-law-in-law! Welcome to the extended family. Do I get discounts?!? Mazel tov!

Congratulations, Rachel! SO thrilled for you and can't wait to hear more. I love Second Time Around. I grabbed a few really cute things from their Mashpee store when I was down there a few months back, including a ring that I get compliments on everytime I wear it. Look forward to seeing you again soon. Enjoy the celebration!

Years ago there was a little corner store in Newton Highlands called Second Time Around where my mother used to shop. Is this an outgrowth of that tiny little store?

Good luck with your new job.
  • Rachel Levy · 5 months ago
Yes, that's it! It was started by a woman 35 years ago, and her son has run
the chain for 18 years now. And she still manages that original store!
  • leoraw · 5 months ago
Was her name Dottie? I am trying to remember. She and my mother (who
is no longer alive) were friends.

Small world. Best wishes with the job.
